An open-mic fundraising event is planned for Saturday, June 12, to support The Jeju Big Swim. Long-time Jeju resident Sherrin Hibbard plans to swim around Jeju Island beginning on July 31, accompanied by kayaker Steve Oberhauser (a contributor to this publication) to draw attention to the plight of Jeju’s waters.
The fundraiser will take place at the Haebyeon Concert bar from 9 p.m. and guests are invited to take the stage and sing, play an instrument or simply tell jokes in support of the environmental initiative. There is no cover charge but participants and audience members are encouraged to make voluntary donations.
Haebyeon Concert is situated in Yongdam 3-dong, Jeju City.
