The Jeju Stone Park inspired by the history of myth, stone and spirit of Jeju island preserves culture and mythology for future generations
The main theme consists of the legend about Seolmundae Halmang (mythological grandmother of Jeju) who created Jeju Island and the stones of Obaek Janggun Generals (five hundred sons).
The Park contains a garden based on the theme of Jeju’s mythology, the Jeju Stone Museum, the outdoor Jeju Stone Cultural Exhibition Hall, a traditional Jeju village of thatched-roof houses, and a 500 Generals Gallery.
Baek Woon-cheol, Jeju Stone Park director spent 40 years creating and collecting stone sculptures.
The spirit of Jeju's myth lives on in the very structure of the Jeju Stone Park, as its director Baek explained: “Visiting the park is intended to be a journey through the mythology of the island, entering through the ear of Seolmundae, progressing through the body and exiting at the feet. It represents the journey of life and death.”
Other nearby attractions include the Jeju April 3rd Peace Park, Jeju Mini Land, and Jeju Jeolmul Recreational Forest.
