A recent study found that people who are the most satisfied with life are also more rested and more satisfied with their sex life.
In fact, according to the study, if you are a typical person looking to improve your ability to live well, being able to feel rested all the time would outweigh the benefits of a five times increase in the amount of disposable income you have.
Other important factors are job security, the health of the people close to you, and the community around you.
The study, carried out by Oxford Economics and the National Center for Social Research, aimed to define what it means to “live well” in the UK.
It interviewed 8,250 adults in the UK and asked them 60 questions about “who they are;” things such as age, ethnicity, and education, and also “how they live;” things such as what they do in their free time, how much they earn, and relationship status.
The report then gave those who answered a score out of 100 that defined how well they are living life. People who are thought to be living well were the top 20% of the population, those with scores between 72 and 92%.
According to the study, the eight biggest differences between a typical person and a person who thinks they are living well are:
-
1. Sleep quality
-
2. Sex life satisfaction
-
3. Job security
-
4. Health of close relations
-
5. Chatting to neighbors
