The number of domestic visitors to Jeju has exceeded 10 million for the first time ever, hitting a record high of 10,006,645 on Nov 27.
The number greatly surpassed the provincial goal of 9.2 million, and is up 21.9 percent on last year’s total of 8,206,454.
Conversely, foreign visitors are down by the same amount, 21.9 percent, on 2014 at 2,426,485 so far in 2015.
The Jeju Tourism Association stated that more individual tourists, small group tours and Olle Trail walkers have visited Jeju while visitors from the Chinese mainland have decreased.
The JTA added that school trips had greatly contributed to the domestic visitors.
