Jeju governor Won Hee-ryong has joined forces with the governors of Gyeonggi and Chungnam provinces, and Seoul mayor Park Won-soon, to announce a joint declaration calling for eco-friendly transformation of local energy infrastructure.

The Joint Declaration of Regional Energy Infra Transformation commits the local authorities to pursue eco-friendly energy policies for mutual growth.

In the declaration, the four leading local government heads pledged to secure energy self-sufficiency and replace nuclear and other energy sources with new and renewables. They will also form a consultative body for national cooperation.

Jeju, Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungnam will promote the eco-friendly declaration nationwide by holding the Regional Energy Policy Forum in rotation in preparation for the Post-2020 Climate Change Regime.
