The following is a press release from exhibition host ASHA (Authentic Self-Healing Artistry)

This is our second exhibition of children artists, who are going to present their own unique style to the public, with their drawings and paintings centered on the themes created and developed by Seolmundae Halmang herself.

For some people, it may seem odd to combine those two words, like “children” and “artist”, but my children students have proved time and again that it’s indeed possible and appropriate. Thus, in recognition of their creative work, they have been permitted to participate in the 2015 Seolmundae Halmang Festival and it’s a great honor for us!

As a person who majored in Arts and Painting at the university and who studied as well as applied practically the Bio-Spiritual Artistry concepts, my perspective is that the most crucial tasks for every being in the world are Art and Healing, for it’s the most useful and joyful way to live. Healing and inner transformation come naturally, but only when we accept ourselves as we are, no matter what, only when we respect ourselves as we are, and truly love ourselves.

Through developing their artwork and daring to exhibit it in front of the general public, our children find talent and start trusting themselves. Through this process, healing naturally and automatically comes in the lives of these children, stimulating and regenerating their neurological pathways. Additionally, it enhances their capacity to deal with the world, and their responsibilities in every relationship they have.

Used with sensibility, Art is a very beautiful and holistic way for children to heal by expressing and releasing themselves freely. It’s therefore appropriate that they were allowed to join this festival which recreates, revives and reminds us all of the great guardian goddess, Seolmundae Halmang who has been creating, reviving and caring for all the life forms in Jeju Island.

All my gratitude goes to Director Paek Uncheol and Manager Ko Sunog, for recognizing my students’ originality, as well as the Curators for assisting the process. I appreciate also to Design Sodam, for organizing our artwork production in this very beautiful art book, and to Konggan Sarang for making all the perfect frames for each artwork. I also want to thank all the dear parents of these wonderful children, for understanding and responding so well to my purpose of Healing through Art.

Most of all, I show my absolute love to each of my students for trusting and immersing themselves in each class so spontaneously and cheerfully. My beloved student, each of you is a beautiful coworker with the Great Seolmundae Halmang, who has blessed Jeju Island with her presence for so long! I dedicate this art book to her, and to every one of you!
