As Foot-and-Mouth Disease spreads nationwide after breaking out at Jincheon, South Chungcheong Province, Jeju Olle trails near cattle and pig farms have been closed to halt the disease.
There have been no confirmed cases of the disease on Jeju Island and Jeju province brought in the restrictions until further notice on Jan 16 to ensure it remains disease-free.
Restrictions and detours
Course 9: Restriction on entire length between Daepyeong Port and Hwasungeum Sand Beach.
Course 1: Detour between Siheung Elementary School and Gwangchigi Beach;
Course 3: Detour between Onpyeong Port and Pyoseon Haevichi Beach;
Course 4: Detour between Pyoseon Haevichi Beach and Namwon Pogu;
Course 11: Detour between Moseulpo Hamo Information Center and Mureung Eco School;
Course 13: Detour between Yongsu Port and Jeoji-ri Community Hall.
The province asked for the public’s cooperation and said in a statement that the actions were “unavoidable” to stop the disease which has been detected in one cattle and 49 pigs across five cities and 12 counties on the mainland. |
