Jeju’s coastal nuri-gil have been selected by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries for improvement in the areas of beautiful coastal views and historic and cultural resources.
There are nine coastal Nuri-gil in Jeju covering 90.9km and the province will inject 240 million won in installing signage and rest areas to promote marine tourism and walking for leisure.
The signs will be located at the path entrances and will outline the route and distance with information on local culture and wildlife. Benches made of local stone will also be constructed at points along the routes to complement the local environment.
In a related coastal-boost measure, Jeju province is developing a website to introduce Jeju’s tangible and intangible marine culture through storytelling including old place names, proverbs, and folktales scattered along the Jeju Olle and coastline.
The province announced its plans to “continually revive the value of Jeju’s marine culture and build Jeju Olle infrastructure.” |
