The 13th Korea Experimental Arts Festival (KEAF) expanded to Seogwipo, Jeju, for the first time last year. The Hongdae annual experimental arts festival with 100 artists from 15 countries was such a success that the event now calls Jeju home and has been renamed the “2014 Jeju International Experimental Arts Festival (JIEAF).”
This year the theme is “Life is Art” and artists will critique modern culture’s relationship with nature.
While KEAF featured ground-breaking art since inception, JIEAF will target local participation alongside art and cultural groups from here and abroad. In collaboration with communities and institutes, events will be held at the Seogwipo Art Center with various street performances elsewhere.
Despite Seogwipo’s unrivalled and exotic environment, the 2014 Jeju International Experimental Arts Festival finally gives it the chance to showcase its just as impressive arts and culture scene.
