In collaboration with the Korea Wild Animal & Plant Service, Jeju City authorities plan to enforce more sever measures, to prevent the poaching of birds in Hado, an important rest area for migratory birds, and in Yongus. By closely observing the area they intend to decrease the amount of crime and hopefully help preserve the 70 species of birds that visit the villages each year, some of which can barely be seen anywhere else in the world. The authorities will be on the lookout for traps, nets and snares, as well as for the use of toxic sprays in the air and of course, firearms.
