Feel Jeju in Samsunghyeol

On May 3, 2014 the JDC junior journalists visited Samsunghyeol park on Jeju Island. There were some people there who came to walk around or travel through Jeju. The journalists walked through Samsunghyeol interviewing many people who were visiting from different parts of Korea.

Samsunghyeol has a famous legend regarding where it came from. 4300 years ago three man were born from the holes in Samsunghyeol whose first names were Ko,Yang,Bo. They married with three princess and built up life here. This legend is start of the Jeju island and this legend is important even now.

The journalists met a man who was sweeping the ground. His name is Yang Young Bum. He is currently working at Samsunghyeol. He said “The only people who can work at Samsunghyeol are those whose first names are Ko,Yang,Bo. Its because Samsunghyeol is a sacred place and we must keep our ancestors.”

JDC junior journalist talked to Jung Jin Hun, 47, a woman who watched the video about Samsunghyeol’s legend. She said “I came Jeju to have a break time, but I visited Samsunghyeol different reason.” When asked to clarify, she answered “My children’s grandmother’s first name is Ko. It is the same name as the men from the legend. so we want to visit Samsunghyeol.”

The JDC junior journailsts also met two woman who walked into the Samsunghyeol gallery. Their names are Park surin, and Joe ye seul and both of them are 26 years olds traveling around Jeju. They said “Jeju has beautiful scenes and food.” When the JDC junior journalists asked what places they would recommend to people visiting Jeju they answer “We like Udo and Gwakjiri coastal road because its very fresh and beautiful when I walk there.”

JDC junior journalist passed through many trees. They saw a man. The man’s name is Lee Eunbin, 25. When the junior journalist asked him “How can we make Jeju an international city?” He said “I think a policy is needed to stabilize prices. “ When asked why he thought this he answered “Jeju’s prices are higher than other place in Korea- it should be improved.” Another man named Nam Jeong guen, 22 from Busan said “The Tourist complex should be kept. It will help make Jeju an international city.”
