Now, as technology is developing so is the amount that people who use electricity. Also, when we are commuting and using electricity at home, in school or in our office we use huge amounts of energy.
However, the electricity comes from non renewable fuels and oils. Also, using these fuels and oils leads to global warming by increasing CO2. Using fuels and oils can be inefficient for several reasons. To solve this problem, there is renewable energy. Renewable energy means any energy that can be used over and over again such as solar heat or wind power.
There are several problems with renewable energy. At night time when there is no heat, we can’t produce any of the electricity energy made from solar heat. When there is no wind, we can’t make any electricitity from wind power.
According to http://smartgrid.jeju.go.kr/eng/ a Smart Grid refers to a next generation network that intergrates information technology (Smart) into the existing power grid (Grid) to optimize energy efficiency through a two-way exchange of electricity information between suppliers and consumers in real time.
For example, if there is energy made from solar heat, we can use a Smart Phone or Smart TV to use the energy. But if it is not made, we can use other energy that is made.
KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) has illustrated the future using Smart Grid. To promote these, they’ve made a Smart Grid Utopia. It is structured by seven parts, which are Prologue, Smart Power Grid, Smart Renewable, Smart Transportation, New Korean Standard Nuclear Power Plant, Epilogue and Smart Place.
People who will live in the future will use the Smart Grid will be affective way.
