The introduction of a professional qualification system in the horse industry is being supported with the enforcement of the Act on the Support of the Horse Industry. The Act is expected to increase professionalization and lead to job growth.
The horse industry is more diverse than other livestock with many connected industries connected to leisure, tourism and sports. To improve value added, the government is planning to promote a professional education institute and a certification system. A target has been set to create 7,000 jobs in this field by 2015.
Job growth areas include include trainers and therapeutic riding. Horseshoe makers show the potential for growth as until recently the job was considered undesirable and low-paid, yet with the increased demand, skilled professionals can demand very high wages.
