On Dec. 7th, 2013, the JDC hosted a huge festival called ‘2013 Jeju JDC Global Festival’, which was a place to have lots of enjoyment. This festival was from 1 to 5:30 p.m. and people were able to eat varieties of foods, because in each country’s booth, there were different foods that represented that country. For example, in the USA booth, there were apple sauce and bread, which represented the food common in the USA. Also, there were people from each country in front of each booth.

We were able to meet a person who was working in the USA booth, and her name was Alexis Oesterle, and she was from the USA. She said, “I have been living in Jeju for about 2 years, and currently, I work in an academy.” “While I was working there, I recognized that JDC was finding foreigners able to work today for the festival, and I was very glad to join.”

To the question of “Why did you choose to come to Jeju?”, she replied, “I chose here because I wanted to move to Asia, and while searching for some places, Jeju, the beautiful island, popped up, so arrived right away!” To get some personal information, we asked, “What are some things that you like about Jeju?” She replied, “Jeju is a beautiful island, and I really like to play volleyball, surf, and swim in the ocean.”

Next, instead of interviewing the sellers, we got to interview a visitor or customer, whose name is Donslas Machin, who is from United Kingdom, and currently working in NLCS Jeju, as a math teacher of 12th grade. He said, “It’s my first year in Jeju, and I am having lots of fun here.” “Also, I am wishing to stay in Jeju for about 3 more years.” To the question of, “How do you think about this JDC Global Festival program?” he answered, “I really love this JDC festival program, and think it’s a fabulous idea for the foreigners, because we don’t get lots of these kinds of chances while living in a foreign country.” He also added, “My family is having lots of fun in Jeju.”

There were many people at this festival, and besides the eating booths, there was also nail art, balloon designing, writing hopes, and cup-making booths, and all of these were popular with the young kids. Furthermore, there was a performance from some professional people who came to celebrate the party. Moreover, during and at the end of the party, there were some lotto giveaways and this made the party get hotter. It seemed like everyone enjoyed the party and had a great time.
