The Jeju City 5-day Market is a traditional marketplace that has a long history, and is held every 5 days. It is held on the 2nd, 7th, 12th, 17th, 22nd, 27th of each month.
In the Jeju City Traditional 5-day Market, there are many shopkeepers selling merchandise, and many customers from all over who come to bargain. Customers bargain because they want to buy at a cheap price.
Choi Hee Kyung came to the 5-day market with her children. “This market is better than other places because the price of merchandise is cheaper,” she said.
Also shopkeepers lower the price to satisfy customers. Lee Won Soon who was selling accessaries said, ”Customers can buy the merchandise they want, and I’m happy because the customers are satisfied,” she said. Many people who bought merchandise from these shopkeepers can feel a sense of community with them.
Lots of merchandise can be found at the Jeju City Traditional 5-day market such as clothes, pets, fish, traditional food, fruit, and vegetables. Many customers feel it’s easier to find things they want to buy at the market than at a shopping center downtown.
At the 5-day market, there is a greater sense of community than at a shopping center. You can feel alive with the community. If you are in Jeju City, the 5-day market is good place to experience. |
