According to Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, direct charter flights will temporarily run between Bangkok and Jeju from Oct. 12 to Nov. 28.

The total of 17 flights, the result of cooperation between Eastar Jet and True Korea Travel Service, are expected to bring 3,000 Thailand tourists to Jeju. Support services such as Jeju-related broadcasts and Thai publicity materials have been promoted to increase the success of the trial.

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Jeju Tourism Organization hosted a welcome event for 180 Thai tourists on Oct. 12 and visited UNESCO sites such as Sunrise Peak, Cheonjiyeon Falls, and Daepo Columnar Joint. The group returned to Bangkok in Oct. 14.

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is looking to expand international tourists beyond the record-breaking 2 million which visited this year by expanding to markets such as Thailand from 2014. A large scale promotion is planned at one of the largest Thai tourism exhibitions, Discovery Thailand.
