Jeju Special Self Governing Province and Jeju Tourism Organization have targeted the Singapore market for a number of self-drive tour products. The JTO participated in the 2013 Singapore Natas fair in the transportation hub and sales progressed well.

Singapore EXPO in NATAS Holiday 2013 took place from Aug. 16 to 18 and JTO promoted Jeju brands such as New7Wonders and UNESCO. The Singapore market is crucial for FIT, or free independent travelers, so officials believe self-drive products will be popular. 70 thousand people visited the tour expo.

Jeju tourism chiefs have been looking at ways of improving self-drive infrastructure and services across the island and have promoted driving courses along the island’s coast and mountainous regions.

This is part of a wider drive to increase the number of southeast Asian tourists and six tour products were released through the local Chan Brothers and CTC Travel. CTC Travel are in the top five for selling Korean tour products in Singapore and developer Lesely Tan said this:

“Recently, many individual tourists asked about self-drive products. The self-drive product released at this fair period is a competitive tourism product that many tourists will like,” said Tan.

To further boost self-drive and FIT from southeast Asia, Jeju Special Self Governing Province and JTO will promote a self-drive event targeting Singaporean and Malaysian tourists this coming October.

FIT are seen as vital to diversify the local tourism industry and activate the regional economy. Promotions like traditional market coupons will be provided during the October promotion period. To develop self-drive products, fam-tours with the Korea Tourism Organization and Singaporean tourism companies will be undertaken.
