Task Force set up to make Jeju a world class tourist destination |
|
As Jeju Island gets ready to greet an anticipated 10 million tourists this year, the Task Force team kicked off a special project to improve Jeju’s global tourist image with input from relevant agencies.
Nine different programs covering 33 different plans, including guide lines for tourists, have been established in those fields relevant to tourism, such as food, accommodation, and transportation.
Jeju is urging its citizens to keep areas around houses clean and to follow international protocols at all tourist accommodations; notifying tourists about seasonal rates and displaying bath towels in the international manner, for instance.
The installation of dedicated checkout counters for foreign tourists in shopping areas is another item on Jeju’s agenda. Simplifying procedures at the Jeju International Airport and expanding services in the boarding area are also being promoted as one of a kind.
Lee Myung-do, the Director of Culture, Tourism, and Sports in Jeju said that the improvement of computer software offering tourist-related services is a priority, but that the proper conduct from citizens is still paramount. |
