The news surrounding Jeju United star defender Hong Jeong Ho’s alleged involvement in match fixing has shocked not only local fans but also many Jeju citizens.

Already 10 players, including eight from Daejeon Citizen, have been identified as having received money from gambling brokers to fix games, but Hong Jeong Ho is the first to be interviewed by the prosecution concerning this issue.

He has maintained he is innocent since news of the scandal broke. Doubts, though, have arisen over a match between Jeju and Seoul held on June 10, where Jeju United was defeated by a score of 5 to 1. Hong was a midfielder during the 90 minute match.

He has denied the allegations of any involvement and accepting bribes.
