The D-200 festival for the final selection of the New7Wonders of Nature will be held in the Grass Plaza at Seongsan Sunrise Peak on April 24. This event is hosted by the National Committee for Jeju New7Wonders of Nature, with the hopes that Jeju will be selected as one of the New7Wonders of Nature.

A number of public figures including Jung Woon Chan, chairman of the National Committee for Jeju New7Wonders of Nature, Jung Byung Guk, Minister of Culture and Tourism, Lee Bae Yong, chairman of Presidential Council on Nation Branding, Woo Keun Min, governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Yang Won Chan, secretary general of National Committee for Jeju New7Wonders of Nature, and Koh Du Sim, head of honorary ambassadors for Jeju will attend the festival. Approximately 2,000 Jeju citizens will also participate in the event.

Bernard Weber, founder of the New7Wonders Foundation, will attend the festival before having a press conference at Pyoseon Haevichi Hotel, where he plans to address all rumors that surround the New7Wonders Foundation, which has become a controversial issue as of late.

Various programs will be held at the festival, including a performance by a Korean traditional percussion band from Sinyang-li, Sungsan-eup. That will be followed by a well-wishing event for Jeju to be selected as New7Wonders of Nature, a pinwheel performance, trips to Olle trails, a haenyeo event, and more.

Additional events aimed at tourists are also on tap. These include a drawing competition for children and free samples of traditional Jeju foods. There is no entrance fee.

In Jeju City, meanwhile, a live concert at Halla Stadium will be broadcast on ‘SBS K-Pop’ from 3:40 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. This performance is a special program dedicated to the “hope for Jeju’s selection as New7Wonders of Nature.” Popular music groups including Girls’ Generation, Big Bang, TVXQ, and Beast will perform. A live TV feed back to fans gathered in the Myeongdong area of Seoul will broadcast the concert and phone lines for voting for Jeju will be available.

Free tickets will be distributed from 2 p.m. in front of the ticket office at Halla Stadium. For more information, contact the National Committee for Jeju New7Wonders of Nature, 02-516-1148.
