The most world-famous maestro that Korea has ever produced, Keum Nan Sae (64), holds a baton for “Jeju - The Final Winner of New7Wonders of Nature.”

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province appointed the Eurasian Philharmonic Orchestra artistic director as its honorary ambassador at the 10th anniversary of the founding of CBS Jeju in Jeju Halla Art Hall, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17.

He will act as the honorary ambassador for the next 2 years and is expected to play a prominent role in garnering votes from islanders for the New7Wonders of Nature through various large concerts.

Keum graduated from the composition department of Seoul National University and the conducting department of the Berlin National Music College and acted as the conductor of the KBS Orchestra, the Suwon City Orchestra, and the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 1998, when he founded the Eurasian Philharmonic Orchestra, he has acted as its CEO and music director for the popularization of classical music.

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province has appointed honorary ambassadors since 2008. There are now 21 including Keum.

Additionally, in the “Concert with Story” on the 17th, he performed with other musicians: pianist Yu Young Uk, violinist Jang Un Young, oboist Lee Gwang Il, and the members of the Eurasian Chamber Orchestra.

At this concert, he played popular musical works including Mozart’s Divertimento, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and Chopin’s Polonaise Fantasie.
