TOEIC test schedule changes to twice monthly, February and August |

Those who prepare to study or work abroad, be aware, there will be changes made to official English tests, including TOEIC, which will be held an additional two times a year, in February and August.
The Korean TOEIC Committee is holding the TOEIC tests on Feb. 12 and Aug. 13. The committee will also publish combined report cards (which will show scores for all four sections: reading, listening, speaking, and writing) in addition to the four previously published cards, which showed only the score for a single section only. TOEFL will continue with limiting the numbers of tests at intervals of 8 days, a rule which was made last July. TOEFL Junior, which is for kids from 10 to 15 years old, will include the writing and speaking sections on computers during the second half of this year.
The GRE (Graduate Record Examination), which is required for admission to US graduate schools, has made the largest change. ETS, the organization that sets the GRE’s questions, will eliminate written exams, which were held only two times a year. Instead, ETS will change the exam to a CBT (Computer Based Test). The format of vocabulary-related questions, which previously simply asked the meaning of words, will be changed to ask testers to find the meanings of words using context. For those who take revised GRE tests this Aug. and Sep., the fee will be discounted 50 percent.
The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test), which is mandatory for those preparing for admission to US MBA schools, has made no significant change. However, according to the cancellation policy in effect since last November, $150, 60 percent of the registration fee, will be returned when more than 7 days are left from the test day, and $50, 20 percent of the registration fee, will be returned when less than 7 days are left.
