Some terrifyingly named 'fire ants' were found at Kamman Terminal in Busan last week.

The ants get their name from their red color and their dangerous sting which can lead to anaphylactic shock and, in some rare cases, even death.

25 ants were first found in a storage container, while a nest that could be used as a home for up to 1,000 of the ants was later found.

Naturally, the authorities don't want to see these ants spread and as such much is being done to stop them from spreading.

The area has been quarantined and all containers entering and leaving the port have been subject to sterilization.

As well as this, checks have been introduced at 24 sea and inland ports throughout Korea.

This is the first time the ants have been found in Korea.
