Jeju Fire Station has backed plans to install a multi-language emergency broadcasting system in hotels and tourist spots.
Installed in hotels and other travel accommodation, the system will raise the alarm in four different languages to help ensure the safety of tourists.
The emergency broadcasting equip-ment consists of an emergency bell, automated siren, and public address system that alerts occupants to possible fires as well as providing evacuation guidance.
Jeju Fire Station has been calling for Chinese and Japanese languages to be added to the current emergency broadcasting equipment which uses only Korean and English to warn occupants.
The new system is being rolled out in three phases with 31 establishments targeted last December in the first two phases. The final phase will see the system rolled out to 56 premises in the province.
