Jeju’s eastern island of Udo will be the site of pilot cultivation for a new variety of health-functional peanut known as the ‘K-All.’
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Research & Extension Services will manage the project which is hoped to boost local farming incomes.
The K-All was developed by the Rural Development Administration, or RDA, in 2014. It is rich in components that help improve cardiovascular functions.
RDA research results confirmed that K-All contains more oleic acid than olives or almonds. Oleic acid is known to lower the risk of heart attack.
The peanut farmers’ corporation foundation plans to include the K-All peanuts in the sales of early-ripe varieties.
