Jeju governor Won Hee-ryong praised Jeju’s new and renewable sector as a future growth engine for the island at the Seoul Climate-Energy Conference on Nov 20.
During his keynote speech, Won pledged to continue the “Green Big Bang” on the island to ensure that Jeju is carbon-free by 2030.
He stressed that many obstacles remain including technological barriers and profitability.
Won sees the Green Big Bang project as an innovative business model that synergizes across the ICT industries and he wants it to serve as a model to other regions developing next-generation industries.
