President Park ‘regrets’ North Korea’s provocation
Jungang Ilbo reports that at an emergency security meeting today, President Park Geun-hye expressed regret at the North’s artillery firing on a South Korean naval vessel near Yeongpyeong-do Island in the Yellow Sea. The South returned fire and no injuries were reported on either side. Park called for cooperation from the international community including the United States and China. For more visit here.
Christian Council official criticized for Sewol remarks
Segye Ilbo reports that Cho Gwang-jak of the Christian Council of Korea has been criticized for suggesting the students of Danwon High School, who died in the Sewol ferry sinking, should have travelled somewhere else as they were poor. “The poor kids should have gone to Gyeongju or somewhere nearby. ” Cho also came under fire for suggesting people unsympathetic of President Park were “butchers.” For more visit here. |
