Under the theme of “Science, meets the environment,” the 2012 Jeju Science Festival will be held from May 25 to May 27 at Halla Arena. The opening ceremony will be held on May 26 at 11 a.m.

With 80,000 visitors expected, the festival is hosted by Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education. Jeju Youth Science Club and Jeju Scientific Culture Association will organize the event.

The Event Hall will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and will close an hour early on Sunday.

There will be over 200 display booths prepared by students ranging from elementary school to university students, as well as teachers. The festival is divided into seven sections (villages), such as the Dream Village and the Green Village. Several youth centers will also provide career counseling and aptitude tests.

For the upcoming 2012 World Conservation Congress Jeju in September, a small section is designated to its promotion and information booth.

In addition to those booths, 10 science competitions, including ones for designing and making Rube Goldberg machines, and making water rockets, will be held for students to participate.

National symposium for science teachers will be held on May 25 at 3 p.m.
