Scrub Typhus Prevention Guide Cause of the disease: Being bitten by tsutsugamushi larva which lives in grass or in rodents’ hair Symptoms: After 6 to 18 days incubation period, symptoms like that of bad cold such as fever, headache, feeling chilly and muscle pain appear. Spots of one centimeter appear on skin and make scars. Scrub typhus usually affects people who live in the countryside, especially farmers. Recently the number of cases has risen. How to prevent: Avoid going to infected areas. Stay out of contact with rodents. Wear long sleeved clothes when working outside. After outdoor activity, take a shower and launder working clothes. If symptoms appear, seek treatment immediately.
