This week I would like to begin by mentioning the importance of contributing to the recovery in Japan following the horrendous loss of life and damage to property in the tsunami.

In Korea, you can send money via the following organizations and their accounts:

The Korean Red Cross
(redcross.or.kr, 02-3705-3736)
- Kookmin Bank 9-010-001-0004
Korea Disaster Relief
(relief.or.kr, 1544-9595)
- Nonghyup Bank 106906-64-013414
Community Chest of Korea
(chest.or.kr, 02-6262-3079)
- Korea Exchange Bank 068-13-21409-0
Thank you for your generosity.

On an entirely different subject, let’s consider the shiny, new, social side of our news outlet: The Jeju Weekly’s Facebook page and Twitter feed. Our Web site, admittedly, isn’t as user friendly as it could be. You can retweet from the site, but sharing and commenting is proving troublesome.

So I sincerely encourage you to “link,” “like,” “friend,” “follow” and “retweet” your favorite Jeju Weekly articles. Now with your existing Facebook and Twitter accounts, you can easily become an active commenter and sharer.

With Facebook, you can engage with our publication by writing on our page’s Wall, you can upload more photos and video, write reviews of the stories or post feedback, as well as create posts on our discussion board and mention favorite stories in your status updates or Wall posts to your Facebook friends.

Twitter, by contrast, is a public and searchable area for your retweets and comments on our stories. Our editorial staff read all these comments and appreciate any feedback you may have about our stories.

And finally, as always, you can email us if you have any feedback or letters: editor@jejuweekly.com.

We hope you’ll find that these services enable your network of friends and family to learn more about what’s going on in Jeju. Thanks!
