The members of the Russian lower house of parliament’s international affairs committee and two other Russian lawmakers who made a visit to Pyongyang on Oct. 2-6 repeatedly claimed that North Korea is preparing to test a long-range missile which it believes can hit the west coast region of the United States, quoted as saying on last Friday, Oct.6.

According to them, the overall mood in North Korea is rather belligerent.

In recent weeks, tensions have mounted over North Korea’s nuclear weapons and missile programs as Pyongyang has test-fired several missiles and conducted a test explosion of a hydrogen bomb. The escalating tensions were also driven by President Donald Trump.

Anton Morozov, a member of the parliament’s international affairs committee who visited Pyongyang, said in an interview, “they hinted to us that North Korea is preparing for a missile test on or around Oct. 10, the anniversary of the founding of the ruling Korean Workers Party and a day after the Columbus Day holiday in the United States.”

However, he did not specify which North Korean officials had given him the information about the planned test.

Meanwhile, Russia called on the White House to tone down North Korea threats.

Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister told his US counterpart, Rex Tillerson, any escalation of tension on the Korean peninsula, to which the USA's military preparations lead is unacceptable, and contradictions should be resolved by diplomatic means only.

There are no signs of imminent North Korean provocations ahead of its key anniversary this week, a South Korean military official said Monday, adding that Seoul's military is maintaining a high state of monitoring and readiness in cooperation with the United States.

North Korea will celebrate the founding of its ruling Workers' Party of Korea on Tuesday, and the allies have been predicting some sort of provocation from the communist state, such as missile launch, to mark the special day.

Meanwhile, South Korea has yet to detect any signs of immediate provocations from North Korea according to a South Korean military source as it is maintaining an upgraded surveillance effort to prevent against any developments.

The source said South Korea's Ministry of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff and military's crisis action team are just ready for immediate response in case any provocative movements of North Korea take place.

South Korea has successfully developed a combat system for its envisioned 3,000-ton attack submarine, the state arms agency announced Tuesday.

Amid allegations of North Korea’s threat, Jeong Se Hyun, Korea’s former foreign minister told in an interview with TBS Radio that If North Korea might opt for a different day for the test, adding that North Korea is taking actions “the opposite way neighboring countries expect it to move as usual”

Based on his expectation, the possible date for the North Korea’s provocative military action might be on Oct. 18 which collides with the official opening date of National Congress of the Communist Party of China or early next month as President Trump pays a visit to Chinar for Korea-China-Japan Summit Talk.

As for the latest series of Trump’s remarks on the war possibility over North Korea, he asserted that “that is the U.S strategy to sell weapons to South Korea just like a businessman,” stressing that no war would ever happen.
