Jeju City will install lights for tourists along the Jang Han-cheol coastal trail in Aewol-eup.
Also known as the Handam, the trail has a monument that was built in honor of Jang Han-cheol, a Jeju-born scholar in the Joseon era.
Jang is best known for Pyohaerok, a literary work about the wreckage he experienced on his way to the mainland.
The city will invest a total of 400 million won to set up lights to brighten 1,450m of the coastal region at night.
It hopes these lights will help establish an atmospheric promenade that will offer a beautiful ocean view of Jeju.
