The Tamna Culture Festival is held every year for the purpose of sharing and educating the Jeju residents and foreigner about the history of Jeju. There were many booths where people could participate in activities or eat traditional Jeju food.

Other participants of the festival gave dramatic performances. Lee Dong Su, with Dae-Jeong Girls High School, who’s students performed Jeju song, said that he believes the festival is meaningful because students can create and develop their own dance.

Many master artisans came to show their different abilities. For example, Song Jong Won, a master craftsman of dolhareubang for over 50 years, exhibited his skill of carving statues from volcanic rock. These statues are typically referred to as “Grandfather” statues or stones.
Won said, “I think I should always make my work with he utmost sincerity and this festival is very important because it shows Jeju’s culture with no distortion.

The Tamna Culture Festival has become more well-known and is important to the preservation of the culture and traditions of Jeju’s past.
