A key part of Jeju Outer Port’s redevelopment will be completed soon with the construction of a large parking lot on the Jeju City site. Jeju Special Self-Governing Province reports that a 8,600 square meter parking lot will be located on a currently unpaved field which totals 17,200 square meters as part of the second stage of development.
The 1.1 billion won project started in April and should be completed by September this year. The parking lot should provide space for around 100 tour buses and salt-resistant trees will also be planted in a waterfront park.
Users of the port facilities have complained of a lack of parking spaces in the area. The construction is expected to contribute to Jeju cruise industry and the landscaping project and waterfront park will even become a tourist attraction in its own right, officials say.
