Next time you find yourself in trouble on the island, turn to an online Q&A page first before you hurry to a local police station.
Jeju Seobu Police Station opened its help desk for foreigners on May 22 in the form of online Q&A page. Visit the station’s homepage (www.jjpolice.go.kr/seobu) and click ‘Q&A sections to help foreigners’ located in the right corner of the main page. Then you will find key emergency protocols in your own language.
The online Q&A covers some practical information you will need in times of trouble while living on the island, starting with how to report a crime to the local police station and information about an emergency shelter to some hot lines for the island’s key police services.
The Q&A is available in seven languages including English, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian, Mongolian and Korean.
Translation of the Q&A material was done by the members of ‘Friends Pool,’ an expat community group in the island composed mostly of foreigners married to local residents, Seobu Police Station said.
